What Is a Workforcing Advisor?
Most staffing companies have account managers or sales reps. At X3, we have Workforcing Advisors. The difference is not just a title. It reflects a fundamentally different approach to how we think labor support should work in the trades.
Why We Don’t Call Them Salespeople
A traditional staffing sales rep is focused on one thing: getting contractors to place orders. Their relationship with a contractor typically begins at the sale and ends at the placement.
A Workforcing Advisor operates differently. Their job is to understand a contractor’s workforce at a deeper level, identify where labor is creating friction, and apply the right solution at the right time. That requires staying involved well past the initial placement.
The role was designed around a simple observation: contractors don’t just need workers. They need someone who understands the full picture of their labor operation and can help them manage it more effectively over time.
What a Workforcing Advisor Does
A Workforcing Advisor serves both contractors and tradespeople, and their responsibilities span the full lifecycle of a placement.
Before a placement, they coordinate job starts, ensure tradespeople have the right paperwork, IDs, and jobsite information, communicate expectations to both sides, and provide PPE support when needed.
During a placement, they check in regularly with contractors and tradespeople, visit crews in the field, monitor jobsite readiness and safety, stay aware of project changes that may affect labor needs, and support crew morale in practical ways.
Across a contractor’s workforce, they look at the bigger picture. Where is labor demand growing? Where is it slowing? Are there workers sitting idle who could be better utilized? Are there gaps that need to be filled before a project falls behind?
That last part is where the Workforcing Advisor role becomes most distinct. X3 has seven workforce services built around the natural cycles of construction labor demand. A Workforcing Advisor’s job is to understand a contractor’s situation well enough to know which of those services applies and when, so contractors are not wasting money on solutions they don’t need or missing tools that could save them significant time and cost.
Who They Serve
Workforcing Advisors sit in the middle of two relationships.
- For contractors, they are a consistent point of contact who understands the project, the crew, and the workforce strategy behind both. They are not someone you call when there is a problem. They are someone who is already close enough to the situation to see problems coming.
- For tradespeople, they are an advocate and a resource. They help connect skilled workers with opportunities that fit their trade, experience, schedule, and goals. They communicate what is expected on the jobsite before day one and stay available throughout the assignment.
The Name
A Workforcing Advisor is exactly what the name sounds like. Workforcing is how X3 describes the active, ongoing management of a skilled trades workforce, not a one-time placement, but a real working relationship. And an Advisor is someone who helps you make better decisions over time, not just once.
Put together, a Workforcing Advisor is someone in your corner for the long haul, helping you make smarter workforce decisions across every phase of your project needs.
